Shelly started competitive swimming at age 6 and competitive tennis at age 12. Running cross-country filled in the time between the pool and the courts. Shelly attended the University of Central Florida where she played varsity tennis for 2 years and still competes on the club level, balancing her free time between running, biking, tennis and adventure racing.

Ever since meeting her now husband Brian, Shelly has also fallen in love with road and mountain biking and is usually the one dragging Brian outside on those cold winter days!
