| Dwayne, aka D-Train. The locomotive at the front of the cycle paceline. When its time to transition to the bikes, its "grab a Coke boys, because we're going!" That "whirr, whirr, whirr" sound is us bearing down on you....we're polite though, we always say "Hi" when we pass. Prior to getting involved in Adventure racing, Dwayne's athletic time was spent on the occasional half-marathon, trail running, and long biking road rides in the mountains of NC (Triple Mountain Metric, Assault on Mt. Mitchell, Hilly Hellacious, etc.) Adventure racing was appealing as it offered the opportunity to do something different while still being able to ride the bike...although he is still looking for a kayak that you can pedal. Oh my god, it those were legal.....a man can dream. The team will be acquiring their own boats this year and some practice time on Lake Jordan should improve our boat times....hopefully looking for a nickname upgrade to "Tugboat-D" for the fall. Dwayne pays the bills as a PhD biochemist at an RTP biotech company to support his athletic hobbies. |
