Durhan, NC - 8 Hours
July 2007, 2 and 3 Man Teams
9 Teams Competed
NCAR presented another successful adventure race in July 2007. Race backdrop was in Durham, NC with the race start/ transition area being a picnic shelter in Duke Forest. Expected team finishing times were 5-6 hours. Disciplines covered were trekking and mountain biking. The race started at 9AM and we handed out the maps and the first set of coordinates for the trekking section. Teammates had to tie each other together (via rope/ carabineer) for the first trekking section. Teams came back to the transition area to receive another set of coordinates and transition to the mountain bikes. There was another trekking section in the middle of the bike at a manned checkpoint. Teams had a ton of elevation change on the bikes! After the race, we presented 3 teams with prizes. Plus REI provided water bottles to give to everyone. Bob Anderson & Fast Eddy won the race and are currently owners of the NCAR trophy. |
